sous chef & beanieskimask (Sept. 2019):

In the summer of 2015, i took a trip out to Port Angeles to visit my friend Jane and go surfing. Our first day had no waves so her friend Becki & i went hiking in the national park while Jane ran around town with her sister. The hike that followed is one that i will never forget, one that forged a deep friendship. This album tells that story...

It also marks the debut of a long form collaboration between beanieskimask and myself. We've recently begun a live project together under our shared names and celebrated our first ever show with our first full collab release.

Midnight Bistro - High Pulp (Aug. 2019)

What started out as the outro to an 8 minute epic formerly known as wedding song turned into a succinct 2.5 minute late summer banger. This one's always been a bit dear to my heart because i usually have the roll of texture/synth pad man in High Pulp but for this one i got to take the melody. There's a sweet animated video for it also coming soon.

sunking - sunking (Feb. 2019):

Since late 2015, i have been writing songs under the name sunking with the one and only bobbygrooves. We made 60 tracks, starting with his improvised drums and layering over the top with bass, synths, guitars, horns, you name it. 2019 has been our public debut and it all started with this 23 song self titled release. Since then we've wrapped up a second record and are in the process of finalizing an EP and a few singles all from those same early sessions, not to mention touring Japan in October of this year. To see where it all began, hit the link below.

Sounds of Santamaria - sous chef (2019)

Last fall my dear friend Alex Cherney asked me to help score his movie. He'd heard my SLOWGLIDE albums and was in the market for some synth music. It was a true joy working on this project. I had always wanted to score a film and freedom of experimentation felt strong with this one. Though the movie isn't out yet, i wanted to release this album featuring songs of the film score in both cinematic and album exclusive forms. Bobbygrooves lended his talents on drums & percussion and Red Dunes his vocals on "Bondage."

recreational simulation pod - sous chef (Jan. 2019):

For my birthday, i wanted to preview another album i've got in the works. I put together this 4 song 4 minute EP with some songs from my forthcoming second //r.f.k.// album tentatively titled "space music." These 4 tunes are like a sample package of what that record's sounding like so far. It's music from space, from the future, full of synths and drum machines, exploring the depths of the cosmos through rhythm and texture (and a touch of sampling ;)

souper romantique//v.f.#2.2// - sous chef (2018)

The music for the next visiting friends album is ready to go, but we're still waiting on the visual album component (video takes time). So for christmas this year i released a little preview single off the upcoming album. It features Gabija Viacekonis on vocals and lead synth (that sweet sweet deepmind) and Victory Nguyen a.k.a. Beanieskimask tearing it up on flute. It's real pleasant, real vibey, real chill, full of smooth ear worms. Perfect to sneak on a playlist at your in-law's house...

Watson Moon - Watson Moon (Sept. 2018):

In the summer of 2018 my buddy Matt started talking about this big concept album he was gonna make. Sure enough 3 weeks later drums and guitars were tracked for 14 songs. He came to me at one point to toss on some extra keys n synths and he just took the tracks and ran with it. The whole project was done like 2 months later through the power of sheer force of will. I dig this record and i'm stoked i got to play on it.

Recorded and mixed by Watson Moon
I played some keyboards on some songs.

- sous chef (Aug. 2018):

I made the track "pacific-x" one thursday in august. I was so excited by it, i franticly rummaged through my iTunes & voice memos, looking to scavenge whatever fragments i could. To my surprise, i discovered an array of material ranging from full improvised songs i'd recorded in one sitting and forgotten about, to field recordings from a trips throughout the year. By the end of the evening i had pieced together what lives here now; a mini album about quiet yet powerful moments.

Every song is either entirely recorded or has key parts recorded while not at home (outdoors, travels, friend's garages, etc).recorded in iPhone voice memos.

My close friends in Dog Mountain asked for some keyboard work last year. The result was a beautiful record. "Meadow" is some of the best music i've heard, and i feel lucky to have been a part of it. I play organ, keyboards, and synths throughout, sharing the job with some other very talented keyboardists.

cook county//v.f.#1// - sous chef (Aug. 2017):

cook county//v.f.#1// is a through-composed auditory experience, a collage of original music, samples, conversation, and ambient sound. Designed as a focused listening experience, it is best enjoyed in a nice pair of headphones, at a fairly high volume, accompanied by whatever helps you get in the zone.

nightcap//r.f.k.#1// - sous chef (Jan. 2017):

Created entirely on the Yamaha PSS-480 synthesizer, nightcap//r.f.k.#1// is an exploration of what $45 dollars & a little inspiration can get you. The result is a through composed experience, an experimental piece with a very unique sound. It ranges from groovy, hip hop influenced beats, to ambient (both ethereal and troubling) soundscapes. Best enjoyed in stereo, with the inebriant of your choice

On tuesday April 26th, 2016 the members of dentaru no tsuba convened at their underground studio on capital hill, and with the help of Tsubasa Kato & Yukari Hilano (in charge of video) we recorded ikumen live, the same collection of covers of japanese songs as ikumen ( + one new shimonzu cover) but perfermoed live as a band. The whole record was made start to finish in 3 weeks and offers a brief glimpse into the live tsuba experience.

Quiet Light - Dust & Pollen (Dec. 2015):

Dust & Pollen has been my main passion project for the last year and a half abouts, and i'm so excited to finally share this mini-LP with all of you. It's 8 songs (or is it? listen closely) no longer than a 30 min tv show, and definitely best enjoyed as a whole. Grab a nice pair of head phones one evening this winter (or whatever you've got on hand) and take a trip into the world of Quiet Light, i wanna know what you think about it.

Musicians: Alexandra Bedard, Alex Cherney, Gareth Dicker, Rob Granfelt, Alex Sandvoss, Nick Stevens.

A Place for You to Run Away

- The Arborists (May 2014):

This is the debut EP for my band The Arborists. A six song, 30 minute journey through beautiful sonic textures, it began as a collaborative effort between Alexandra Bedard, Alexander Cherney, Gareth Dicker, and myself and grew into a piece of work far greater than the sum of its parts. I'm proud to have worked on this project and thankful to all the amazing people that turned it into a reality.

Reviver - New Lungs (July 2014):

During the late summer/early fall of 2013, i had the pleasure of recording one last EP with New Lungs before leaving the band. The result? Our most inspired EP to date, Reviver. We tracked the majority of it live one late summer's day in Portland OR, and the recordings capture the energy of that band at it's best.

Getting Easier - The Arborists (Winter/Spring 2014):

In the spring of 2014 (well really the winter when you live in Montreal), my band The Arborists released it's first 3 songs. The first pair, Silver & Stone/Fox and the Hound (free) are recorded, mixed, and mastered by Denis Martin, and the third - Getting Easier - was recorded with London Tone Music (Geoff Ott) as a part of their 52 x 52 project. Getting Easier can be heard at your local Starbucks (as long as you live in North America), so make sure to keep your shazam at the ready when grabbing your morning cup of joe.

Coughdrops in Autumn - Antoine Martel (March 2013):

My first true full length album, Coughdrops in Autumn is the amalgamation of much of my early songwriting spanning the younger years of my life. It's the first time i put together a studio band; the first time i really delved head first into something. I was lucky to work with the wonderful Alexander Cherney, Gareth Dicker, Neil Heaton, Jeffery Katan, Devin Lacasce, Alan Mackie, Kate Markle, Denis Martin, Marc Nerenberg, Guillaume Pilote, and Michael Toner.

Screenwriter - Screenwriter (Jan. 2013):

I had the pleasure of meeting Alexander Cherney on the first day of university, and becoming one of his many musical/creative collaborators. On this, his first solo record, Cherney put together an inspired 8 tracks of baroque pop. I was honored and excited when he approached me to play the piano on Screenwriter. The single live performance of this band at L'Alize, with full woodwind section, is still one of my fondest performing memories.

Lanterns - New Lungs (Dec. 2012):

Nick Emard, Wes Gonzalez, and Rob Granfelt have all been hugely influential in my musical life. As New Lungs, this is the EP we were playing live while on our first tour. This band, these people, were all at the core of my musical life in Seattle for those first few years of university. It's got songs that were written just before recording, and others that date back from the days of Hundred Meter Trees, but it comes together as a cohesive whole
